Instead of candy this year Seth got....

Little baby, adorable chickens....awwww, so cute.

3 different types...Mom knew what kinds. I can't remember. I just know they are cute, cuter, and cutest :0)

But we have one surprised and excited boy who can't wait to take care of his baby chicks...I'm so excited for him.

I can't wait to have my own fresh eggs. I hope I have enough to share :0)

I found some really cute pictures on Mamaw's camera thought I'd share...the top picture was Seth in third grade, he had to dress up as a pioneer child for school.. HEY..we tried :0)

He was "Super Sucker" for Holloween this year. I'm not sure if you know but Seth is the author of a very popular comic book in 4th grade and it's very popular in Berlin Hts. :0) So he decided to go as his favorite super hero. He's the defender of all sweets!!

This was at Christmas. I love him! That's actually my first "Christmas Sweater" and I am making it a tradition :0) Make fun of me and I'll kill you...just kidding about the killing part. (not very Christmasy is that ;0)

We had the "Cotton-less" cottonwood tree cut down between the two houses because 1. It's roots were growing under our house and 2. It made the biggest mess ever in the spring with the cotton so it wasn't so cotton-less. I loved watching them work..

They put it in the chopper and it was GONE!!

Then, of course, the result...

They trimmed a few others on the side where they were touching the roof and electric wires...

Then they ground the stump up...that was one of the roots they cut out that was going under our house...it looked as big as some of the branches that came down.

Mamaw is so relieved that it's gone. She's hated that tree for years :0) See how nice the side of the house is without all those branches all over. So nice.

We have work ahead of us to get that cleared out and grass planted but I love that I won't have to mow around those darn roots anymore! What a blessing it is to have it gone. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Very professional and nice.

Seth joins WRESTLING!

This was Seth's first wrestling practice, he did really well and was really excited to learn.

In yoga this was the cobra pose, I noticed they used a lot of yoga poses during stretch time.

Rolling down the mat...They took the first practice kinda slow and they taught, going in for your partners leg and then your partner would then do the same...then they learned step 2 of that move which was knock them to the mat and Seth wasn't sure how much he liked being knocked down....he hurt his elbow and face (when his elbow hit his face).

After the first practice we had one sweaty, wiped out boy...

Second practice started out the same way with the stretching...

and rolling...

then they paired him up with this kid (as you can see is pretty big) they started showing new moves where you go in and grab you partners leg and pull up till his foot is up by your shoulder....well, every time this kid would grab Seth's foot and get it that far up Seth would hit the mat. Wham..

Seth hurt his wrist by landing on it and came over to me and said he wasn't sure if he really wanted to do this anymore. I told him "let's just finish this practice and we don't have to come back if that's your decision" He said "Ok" so the coach yelled "everyone on the wall and watch the next move"....so he has his high school volunteer come up and show the second move and it was grab the leg and pull up like they did before, hold it there, then with your other leg sweep your opponents other leg and watch him crash to the mat. I looked at Seth and he was looking at me and was shaking his head NO and moving his hands like "lets get the freak show out of here" I started laughing and waved him over and said "let's go" I told the coach this just wasn't our game...

I wish my camera battery didn't die, I would've loved to have that picture when he saw that kid hit the mat. Priceless. He knew for sure at that moment it would NOT be him. I love him for knowing for sure that it's not for him. It's fun watching him figure it out.

Aww, how cute is he...well I look out my back window yesterday and he was running around the backyard. I whistled and he came right in the house (mud all over). It was raining so hard all day, I felt bad for him. I couldn't leave him out there for fear he would go out in the street and as you know we live on a pretty busy highway and if you know me I'd feel way to responsible :0) He was a really, really good dog. He didn't have a collar on so I didn't know where he lived so I called the police station to see if anyone called missing their dog and they told me to call the sheriff, so I called the sheriff and they told me to call the dog warden...I called and she went over her list of people who called and no one with his description...poor boy. She said that she could come get him and I was hesitant at first because I didn't want him to go the "POUND" you know...so I told her this and she said he would have a better chance finding his owner there and they really spoil all their dogs that come in...that changed my mind (plus, he wasn't a big fan of guinea pigs, barking at them everytime one moved) but he was a really good boy he knew all the common tricks, sit, lay down, speak...I secretly named him Charlie Brown. I'm going to check the papers daily to see if anyone is missing their dog...

He looks alittle bit like my dog Paco but taller and his nose was longer...I think he was a mix of like doberman and lab...I don't know, I stink at guessing that type of thing...

Don't you think I'm doing good (April) I've posted 2 times in a row and I have another one on the way! WooHoo! The pressure to get this updated was keeping me up at night...JK, JK :0)

Happy 10th Birthday, Seth!

Who are these kids?? We started Seth's birthday at the Science Center in Cleveland (I forgot the camera..grrrr) which was a ton of fun and even watched Dinosaurs Alive at the Omnimax Theatre which is totally breathtaking....It was Finnigan's first time at the Omnimax so it was fun to watch his reaction. The Omnimax is a dome theatre and is HUGE...very cool. Then we came home and had pizza and then the boys went next door to do the treasure hunt that Jim and I did for them before we left...It was a big hit and the kids loved it. They found their bag of loot at the end. They found their first clue on the back door and had to take 15 step and turn left and so on...really fun to watch.

His dad and I got him a tattoo machine...we are "new age parents :0)" He gave me my first tattoo.

An anchor and the word mom or from my view wow! I told him he sees mom and I see WOW..heehee.

They each took turns giving tattoos, here's the result.

Then it was Dad's turn...he got a eagle head below his real tattoo. Now he's double cool.

Then our awesome cake that grandma bought for us a cookies and cream icecream cake from Coldstone Creamery....fell off the wagon and totally had a couple pieces of this bad boy and sure enough it was the best cake I've ever had!

We had a lot of fun and Seth is now 10 years old. I can't believe it. It just seems like yesterday he was born. He is turning into such a great kid learning his likes and dislikes and it's been an honor to be his guide through his journey so far. :0)

My garden, so far, 2008

I did make an honest attempt to make the garden smaller this year. Everything is doing so well. I'm learning to use the rotatiller between rows instead of hoeing and that is saving me alot of time. Last year I was still kinda afraid of the thing...this year...fearless! :0)

Zucchini on the left and yellow squash on the right...I think these are the tallest squash plants I've ever seen. I'm betting they will be taller than me before they quit!

Close up of the zucchini, I couldn't help it! :0) Don't look at the weeds...I swear I pull them out daily and they come right back.

Green peppers are getting big, I've picked 2 so far for fried potatoes. So yummy!

Jalepeno Peppers are doing great. Put some of these in our fried potatoes and they were almost to hot! Also made hummus the other day and added one and it was soooooo good.

Hungarian Hot peppers, I can these for pizza and sandwiches...but also add them to our salsa that we make every year.

Tomatoes and the corn... I staked the romas so you can spot them. Last year I didn't and they took forever to pick. Plus I think this is the only thing I would've changed about planting the garden this year....I would've planted them farther apart. Owell, this year is really about figuring it out myself. Last year I was a bit overwelmed, Papaw and I planted over 100 tomato plant and boy, oh, boy is that alot. This year about 50 and I hope we'll be able to pick them without stepping on whole bunch...we'll see. Live and learn, right.

I have my eye on this one...it will be the first batch of fried green tomatoes and it will probably be this week! Happy days ahead.

Cucumbers, green onion, and you can see the beet tops right behind them. I just put straw under the tomatoes the other day, it worked so well last year by keeping the moisture in the ground and keeping the weeds back, also keeps the tomatoes off the dirt so they won't rot before you have a chance to pick them, but I had enough left for under the cucumbers so hopefully they do the same thing for them. I made the best sweet pickles last year. Some I added a habenaro pepper and they came out sooooo good!

Corn and my trusty plastic owl that we got as a gift from Pam and Ron. The critters have been staying away so far...

This is our small bed, it's exploding! 1 cherry tomato, some lettuce that still needs thinned out, carrots, and about 8 eggplants (fingerling, classic and Dennisa gave me a ghost plant, which will be a white eggplant) so excited to see everything do so well.

Baby eggplant, won't be long now! Baba gnouche here I come!

Can't leave out the fruit trees, peaches are getting so big. I hope everything doesn't get ripe at the same time!

Pears...again, getting so big. Not pictured are the apples, we have 3 trees and only one did fairly ok this year. I think the frost hit them again. I had to go out in early March and spray the peach, pear trees down to get the frost off but I had a hose emergency and it was spraying me more than the trees so I never made it back to the apple trees, I was frozen! :0)

And I couldn't forget our Scare Jane, her hair is a bit messy these days but I really think she's helping keep the critters away too. She's so pretty. Ok, well this is what I've been working so hard on and now I'm back to the strawberries that I've weeded for the 3rd time this year, they are blooming again which I'm happy about because I don't have enough jelly yet. Jim takes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches everyday so I need MORE! Also the raspberries, blackberries and blueberries are in...I've picked the raspberries once, the blackberries none and the blueberries are almost finished...shoo wee, I'm telling you. I'll figure out a system on how to keep up by the end of the year...I hope. I have to tell you though this is my most favorite thing to do and it is also the hardest working job I've ever done. Papaw said that he would do something everyday and I believe that that's exactly the only way to keep up with everything is to do something everyday! He also said that the reason his garden was so big is that he really enjoyed watching everything grow and I've learned that it's my exact feelings too. I get really excited to go out there and see my beet are already the size of a walnut and the beans are blooming...there's nothing like it and I'm really loving my life right now and it also makes me feel like I'm giving my boys the best possible food ever. Good gardening everybody and thanks for letting me ramble.

Seth got out of the shower today and said " Mom I have a surprise for you" and I said "What is it?" and he said " I want you to cut my hair". I got a bit excited because he wasn't going to cut it until it touched the floor, so I went running for the clippers....

Meet Scare Jane, she is the critter keeper outer! We are trying all kinds of things this year. The pie plates, I planted some sunflowers that are suppose to repel deer...we'll see. :0) Those are the tomato plants behind her.
Our green, red, orange, yellow and even a chocolate sweet peppers in the first row and then the second is all the hot peppers we need for our salsa! I can't wait.
Here's the lettuce peeking out and you can't see the carrots in this photo but they are there!
This is our small bed, it has eggplant, cherry tomato, lettuce and carrots. We even planted some of the sunflowers in this bed just to make things alittle pretty! :0) Now I have to go and work that garden, we got some pretty hard rain the last couple days and the weeds are growing as fast as our veggies! I'm really excited and hope we have a really great year and we get so much canned that we get to share with ALL our family!

Seth signed up for a 3 day golf clinic at Thunderbird...super fun. His dad was really excited that he was interested in golf. Jim is a big fan. Here he is practicing some of his moves :0)

At the driving range..they had the high school golf team there helping the youngsters. Seth did really well at the driving range.

He's practicing his chipping up to the hole. I'm so proud of him...my little tiger.

Taking instructions from the coach on how to follow thru with putting. So cool.

Lessons were finished on Friday. We thought we'd take him to a small par three course that's right down the road from our house. Give him a chance to practice what he has learned and let mommy get back into the "swing of things". Jim and I hit a couple of bucket of balls and, boy, am I sore. I am so out of shape from winter, let me tell you. I'll be taking advil like it's tic tacs :0).

My great idea, I'm going to try and take photos of the yard in each season and this winter put together a movie of our yard growing into the seasons. Ok, I admit it...I've been in the dumps lately but what gets my hearts started is seeing this come off the ceiling and into my view. My instant thought is "they say you eat alot of those in the middle of the night" YUCK and I caught him in my bedroom! Ok, here he is...Ready? Here's the cup I caught "him" in.

Seth spent the night at Uncle William's house on Saturday, so Jim and I went shopping and suprised him with Guitar Hero when he got home Sunday! He was SOOOO happy. He's been saving his money to buy it so we just told him he can just work it off with his chores.

He's so dedicated to his new craft that he woke up at 6:10am this morning so he'd have time to play before school. Here he is taking a breathing treatment and "rockin' out". (Camera takes crappy pictures if it's dark, sorry)

Seth is so excited about Guitar Hero and I'm still excited about my beautiful flowers, here's a peek at them now. I split them up and have a bouquet in the kitchen and in the living room.

We had alot of fun at April's for lunch and after I was finished with the whole movie, which took a long time, I forgot to thank JASON for funding the lunch :0). If it wasn't for our husbands we wouldn't be able to take an afternoon and spend with each other. We love them. It's just so nice to be able to hang out with friends you've known for, what feels like, your whole life. April and I have known each other since the 3rd grade and it's funny that Seth is now in 3rd grade. How crazy is that?? Ok, I'm feeling old :0)

I love that my husband takes clues and runs with it...

He bought me flowers yesterday on his way home from work "Just because". I have, in the past, been one of those wives that told her husband what a waste of money fresh flowers are....well that was 13 years ago and a lady can change her mind, right!? I am offically a woman who LOVES beautiful flowers "just because" and am totally in love with the man who bought me those flowers. I keep moving them to the room that I'm in...living room back to the kitchen, kitchen back to the living room...They make me really happy and that's the point, right...you know the saying...Momma's happy everyone is happy... Good Job, Honey! I LOVE YOU!

They were a week old in these pictures...so cute and adorable.

They are eating so much now and we still aren't sure which ones are boys and girls. We have up until 4 weeks of age to figure it out. We've decided to keep all the girls and we are giving the boys to great homes for other families to enjoy as much as we do. We'll be taking applications, I'm so just kidding....I don't like thinking out getting rid of them, I love them all so much and they are so funny to watch. When they are alone in the living room for awhile and we walk back in, they will start to whistle with excitement...probably just to get fed but it's the cutest thing ever and they go bouncing all over the cage. Babies, you just gotta love 'em.

They are already starting to eat and so much fun to watch, the top baby we named "Scar" from Lion King. It's brown streak through it's eye looked like Simba's uncle's scar. Too cute, and we haven't named the bottom one yet...b ut we've got names for a couple, meme, who looks just like Cookie. Neo, short for Neopolitian Ice cream face, has a perfect black strip, white strip and then brown so cute and Chubby Checkers because it has checked colors all over...awwww. More pics. to come. Just wanted to show you the finished car before we put it in the race. Seth did everything, we are so proud of him. He sanded, he painted and sanded again, painted and then this morning, the morning of the race, he put the wheels on. He used a hammer...momma was nervous (for my kitchen table, not worried about him hurting himself.) Seth is really excited and I hope we do well, I guess it's pretty competitive...I'm so not...but when I talked to Seth's cubscout leader, Jen, she will be without husband too so we promised to help each other. If the car is to light, or to heavy...wish me luck, I'll be taping the whole thing. The adventures of Seth and his race crew (that's me) ~ Peace.

Ok this is the cutest thing. I was talking to my momma on the phone and I look outside and Mr. Chipmunk decided to pay a visit. Now this is my most favorite chipmunk because he comes all the time and he's really playful and fun to watch. So I've been taking pictures of him to show Seth when he gets home from school...

Well Mr. Chipmunk has a friend, I had no idea. They stayed in that exact position for a solid 5 mins. I'm hoping they are friends, I left the window to put dishes away and when I returned they were gone. How cute are chipmunks though, my goodness.

PINEWOOD DERBY TIME

Seth joined boy scouts last year so we were able to get involved in a few projects and this is the latest one. This is the first picture of his "race car" it's cut and primered. I just saw a note on the board reminding Seth to sandpaper where the wheels are going, so that must be the next step and then painting it, which should be fun. They are aloud to paint it however they want. Jim and Seth had fun in grandpa's garage last night getting this all ready. Jim cut it out on the bandsaw/jigsaw (can't remember what the thing was called) and Seth got to use the oscilating sander to make it all smooth. He loved playing with all the gadgets, he's such a boy :0). Well I'll post more when they get more finished. The race is Saturday. I will be the proud momma flashing all the pictures....

Prayer Quilt

My Prayer Quilt....

My very dear friend, April, sent me this beautiful prayer quilt that was in honor of my dad. The wonderful thing about this quilt is she had it hung at her church and they would pray for my dad and pray for us and when they did, they would tie a knot or a bow in the ribbons connecting the squares. Some of the ribbons were left for my prayers...isn't that the sweetest thing ever?! It really means alot to me and I will treasure it forever. It's also very pink which has been my theme color this year...it was the power color for the garden :0) so it makes me smile because it does remind me of strength and that's what I need right now. I just can't believe how sweet she is for sending this...I really love it.

Lunar Eclipse 2008

We stayed up to watch the lunar eclipse last night and it was very exciting. Seth was sad because he missed it. He tried to get up but fell back to sleep. Better luck in 2010. I tried to take a picture every 15 minutes but it got cloudy right after 10:20pm so I missed some of the best parts...man, I was sad for a second but I'm better now :0). This is the finished product. Anthony's visit...

Anthony spent the night over the weekend, it was to much fun. We got to play tennis, bowling and golf on the Wii with 4 people. Jim and I won tennis...couldn't beat us old people! Well I should say they couldn't beat Jim. I'm just there for looks. I haven't got my timing down yet. Then they got to play outside for awhile and that's where the story gets better. They took Seth's BB guns outside and was playing, running all over the back yard so I thought I'd take a picture of them playing when I saw them conspiring....

I was caught taking their picture so I decided to hide in the kitchen because I figured they wanted to try and scare me. Well.....I hid and waited, and waited, and waited. Then finally Anthony popped around the corner with lightning speed and scared the crap out of me. I screamed so loud. He kept saying...I got you...I got you...while he was laughing. Mean kid!

I'll have to get him back somehow, someday, when he least expects it...heeeheehaaahaa. That's my evil laugh if you didn't get it... :o)

There they are running off to probably scare Mamaw and Papaw....just kidding! :0)

My made up dinner last night....

Ok, I have to admit, I was alittle nervous but it came out delicious! I made a lasanga last night with spinach, tofu and some nutritional yeast flakes for the first layer, soysage and tomato sauce for the second layer, and then sauteed up some mushroom, red bell pepper and onion for the third layer and topped with tomato sauce that I made from tomatoes from the garden! mmmm...mmmm...good. Seth wasn't a fan but Jim and I loved it. With a side a garlic bread that was out of this world awesome! I don't think the pictures give this meal justice! :0)

Lordy, Lordy....

I read this story yesterday at the Humane society's website then again today on CNN, it's a scary story about horrible people doing horrible stuff to your food supply...problem is these animals that they are abusing and killing are sick and they are the animals being used for the school lunch program. Factory farms are gross and inhumane and if you are going to eat meat buy local!! That's the only way you can guantee that you are getting what you paid for... They are not testing these animals for mad cow. Why are they sick? Gross, gross, gross...

Sorry, I'm off my soapbox, but people need to really live the golden rule...treat others as you would like to be treated. Stick that electric pole up your a*@ see what it feels like. Sorry....gotta go get centered :0)

Seth is home from school today so I took pictures of him doing his most favorite thing in the world! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa! We love you guys! That's Super Mario Galaxy, it's alot of fun.

Ok, don't want to brag or anything but my husband came home and told me that I've outdone myself with his lunch sandwiches. He can't get over how good they are! Well when your number one ingredient is love, how can you go wrong :0) It's flat bread with smoked provolone cheese and all the fixin's, I even put our canned banana peppers from the garden on there. He didn't add any extra dressing or anything but I did put Miracle Whip as the base...Yummy!

Nice to report Seth did excellent on his report card this time around, we need to work on a few things but that's normal! I had parent teacher conferences yesterday and no bad report...thank goodness. His teacher is really nice. It's just crazy how much they are learning in 3rd grade.

Oreo and Cookie

Seth took new pictures of Oreo and Cookie and they are sooo cute, my goodness. Sometime I look at Oreo and I swear he looks just like Elvis. It's the hair and sideburns. :o)

Grandma's chocolate cake...

Thanks to Grandma, Seth was able to make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting all by himself. He even cleaned up after himself, what a wonderful chef! All great chef's have to taste what their cooking! Evidence all over his face :0) Hint: It says "We, heart, GM + GP......(We love Grandma and Grandpa, he didn't think he had enough room so he abbreviated...too funny)

Here's what Seth and I have been up to this cold, cold winter. Guinea Pig clothes design. Seth did all the sewing, I was just moral support plus I was in charge of dressing the model. She may be "preggers" so we are being so very careful with her. We'll keep everyone posted on her progress. We are so very excited for her and we think she'll be due around Valentine's day.

He's growing up!! (and getting shy) He wouldn't model the tooth but I wanted everyone to see. Hopefully the toothfairy sees some value in the tooth...Last one she gave $5. Good luck, Seth. We'll know tomorrow.

Inspired by my friend April Born, I'm going to go outside of my comfort zone and make a blog....I'm having fun finding pictures and trying to decide exactly what I want to post. Seth has been busy with alot of projects boy scouts, guinea pig clothes design (with help from mom) and school. Jim and I have been working on our diets....I'm vegan, he's veggie....so that's been fun. I think I'll have like a favorite recipe section....oh man. Jim's been busy with work and band so I'll keep that updated too. So much to do, no time to talk....heehee. Enjoy and please leave comments, I love comments... :0)
